It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum cleaner reviews that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. For larger houses it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuums with mop vacuum to resume where it left off can be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro).
