The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or at school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum reviews vacuum for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to offer better cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and Mop (telegra.ph), with a lot of advanced features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.

The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its top rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.

For larger houses it's worth looking for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might expect from its price tag. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app also provides access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
