Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently from lever-type handles that are found on the majority of doors. The handle can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are commonly used on UPVC doors with double glazed front door handles glazing. They are available in a range of finishes and variations.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle a high performance and durability for the purpose it was designed for.

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. The cylinder lock operates by a key which unlocks the cylinder case. This reveals pins that can be aligned with those in the lock and allow them to turn the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is crucial. It is based on the amount of use your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for instance are required to be fitted with higher security cylinders while internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. A euro cylinder must be properly measured to ensure it's the right size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, should there be one. If you cannot measure using the lock in its position, you can take it out of it. It is essential to avoid having a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

The majority of modern cylinders have been constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features included in their design. They are designed to decrease attack chances by forcing the cylinders to turn in a different direction. This will help to deflect attacks and ensure your door is secure.

Certain cylinders are constructed to resist snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. These cassettes can be used as a replacement to broken or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are available as a single unit. They feature a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.
