1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO, are identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. The i3+ is an excellent alternative for those who want a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot once it gets full.

Both robots excel at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they're excellent at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes putting away any clutter or toys it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is filled or the battery is empty it will return to its docking station, automatically emptying its debris into the station's dust bin and continues cleaning where it began. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant use. It takes about three hours to charge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot and is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. -- the most important feature of all -- it has an auto vacuum cleaner-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or via the app.

In our testing the i7+ performed more agile and faster than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying which eliminates a major source of maintenance and reduces the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also impressed with the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the bagless robot vacuum on how to start or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car that is amidst a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households and can fit perfectly next to the coffee table or the bookshelf, where you can wave it around like a magic device.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery, which produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to suck up large crumbs and fine dust. It has three suction modes to meet the task that is being completed. It quickly converts from handheld to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.

This model also has docks that charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and offers easy access to two attachments and the wand clip. This is a significant improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its short running time. The tests conducted by CR show that its claims to run up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a typical, not exceptional, battery-powered vacuum's run time. It's still enough time to clean most of a home that's average size, but not quite long enough to clean every spot (though an additional run-through often can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most popular best value robot vacuum best vacuums the 694 is an affordable model that's an excellent choice for people who don't wish to spend too much on a robot. It was able to remove the majority of types of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area several times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front side helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice addition.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. It's not equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. Because of this, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords and low furniture, and it often runs out of battery power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot cleaner amazon vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also feels better-built, has a more powerful motor, and works better on both bare floors and carpets with low pile, while providing a greater variety of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not a surprise, then, that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior customizations docking frequency settings, and many more. The app is easy to navigate and use similar to other Samsung devices.

In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It did not do well in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we tried and could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.
