Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

Bedside cribs look like the bassinet that is attached to the side of the bed. They usually have a single side that can be put down for easy access, and some have an incline setting that's perfect for babies with reflux.

MFM tester Georgina said that the crib was easy to build, and the instructions were very clear. It was a simple build. It folds down to a compact size, and comes with a handy travel bag.

Easy to put together

They are small and simple to set up, meaning they can be set close to your bed. They are also lighter, which makes them more transportable. Georgina, one of our MFM home test participants, praised the Maxi-Cosi Lora for being "super easy to construct, with clear instructions and easy zips." This crib can be used as a portable cot and comes with a convenient bag. It has multiple mesh windows that allow for ventilation, and the adjustable height means it will fit any mattress.

Cosy and comfortable

You can keep an eye on your child from the comfort of your bed with a crib that is placed at your bedside. It's a great option for a mom who is recovering from a csection, because you can easily pull baby to your side for nappy or night feeds changes without having to get out of bed. If you're looking for something little smaller the Tutti Bambini CoZee is another stylish choice with oak legs and stylish fabric options to fit your decor. It's also incredibly simple to put together. Georgina who took part in the MFM test was able to put it together quickly, without needing to consult any instructions. It's also a good travel cot, which folds flat and popping into a handy bag.

The Next2me Magic, shortlisted for Best Cot, Crib, or Moses Basket in the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, has a larger capacity, but it is compact and easy to attach to your bed. Georgina found it easy to put together, though she did find that the zips could have been more clearly explained on the instruction manual.

Easy to clean

If you're considering travel cots or bedside baby sleeper cribs be sure to look for models that have a removable mattress cover which can be washed in the machine. That will help you keep it clean from spills, nappies, baby sick and drips. You should also select one that is easily disassembled so you can clean and disinfect all the nooks.

This is essential, as it will ensure that all germs and dirt have been eliminated. Verify that the sides of the crib are securely secured to ensure that your baby won't fall off or be trapped.
